Visual Overhaul
ThemesHi everyone!
We thought you'd be happy to see some change around here, so we have made some cosmetic updates. We hope you'll like them. Oh! And we have a new WOL logo hanging up there too! Enjoy!

It was also high time to fix some glitches, so you'll be pleased to know the longplay voting system should now be operational. We are currently working on that timeout that forces you to login again and again. I'm sure you'll notice when it starts working properly. ;-)

Just for good measure, we have thrown in some more enhancements, free of charge. The number of unread personal messages should now appear in the left column, which makes PMs quite a bit more useful. You now have a direct link to our YouTube channel in the top menu. Oh! And while you're looking at the menu, you may notice a link to our online shop that's selling some goodies for you hardcore fans!

If you spot any issue, feel free to tell us in the forum. have fun!

That's it for now. Happy New Year and everything!
New FTP Server
NewsWell, I have got some good news today! We have got a new FTP server, so it is now possible to upload videos again. I'm going to ask hipoonios how to change the information on our upload page, since that information is no longer valid. A big thank you to Raidenn for giving us access to a server!

If anyone is going to upload any longpays just send me a pm, or join the irc :-D
You have to upload the videos in the folder named Uploads only. Raidenn said he would get help to setup a folder named Longplays for us later though...

Also a couple of changes, in the textfile you submit with your video please add the length of the video, the size of the video in MB or GB and add a screenshot from the game. If it is a game you recorded with fraps, you can use fraps to take a screenshot in .jpg format for example, I believe most emulators will take screenshots for you as well. So upload a folder with the name of the video, that includes the video (of course) a screenshot and the info text :-D

We are back...
News...From the dead, more or less. Well it has been a couple of frustrating weeks indeed. With Hipoonios deciding to stop maintaining the site, and us trying to find alternative ways of bringing you our Longplay videos yet again. From my blog to RickyC's page on webs, to this point transferring the site to a webspace hosting. (hipponios hosted the site on his computer). Now I am the "owner" of World of Longplays, but only in the sense that I own the domain Longplays.org, in actuality World of Longplays belongs to everyone contributing to it, donations (which will be invested into the site) longplay videos, Raidenn has also said that he would set up an FTP server where you can upload your longplay videos so that we can keep posting them on Youtube. We will still have access to the Cubex55 account. It Does cost me a bit to have this domain, so any donations would be greatly appreciated (and as I stated above, we will use the donations on the site, one of the reasons I chose a .org domain is that this IS a nonprofit page, we are not doing this to make money, as a matter of fact we spend a LOT of money, and time on this project.)

Anyhow, I hope you will all visit this site as often as you did before, and contribute with new longplays etc. There will be a few minor changes however one of which is directly linking downloads from Archive.org, so that page won't actually open, but you can right click on the links and Choose to save as, (we have to figure out how to change that message...) Also we will change the names of the longplays so that they have the corresponding Youtube number attached (for example PC Longplay [XXX] abcd...

Urgent! Site looking for a new owner
NewsWhat I have to say now is something you don't want to hear.

From next month (1 st Mars) will I no longer continue to maintenance this site. The reason is lack of time and interest.

Therefore I'm looking for someone to take over the project (it would be a shame if the site would die)

More and more people finding out about our site. Every month we hit a new record of unique vistors.

I don't want to give it away for "free". As it would be nice to get something back for all hard work and hours spent. I don't lie if i say i spent 1000 hours!

I have thinking about € 1000. I know that is high for one person. But for that price, the new owner got a lot! (send me a message and i tell more).

Anyone can take over the site. You don't need any progamming skills. All you need is a computer with at least 1 Ghz processor and 512 Mb ram. Running Windows, Linux, or MacOS. A internet connection with a upstream of 2 Mbps should be enough as long you don't plan to host any lp's yourself. If you are new to this, then I will of course help with the setup.

Why have I not said anything about this earlier? Well, I have. I did already for 1.5 years ago when the site was almost new. At this time there where people who was interested. But for some reason I never replied on these letters.

Ps. If nobody wants to take over the site in its current state. And instead want to start over from scratch with a new longplay site. Then I will be more than happy to forward all traffic from World of Longplays to this new site.

Also a lot of another cool features will be added Smile .. More about that later.
