PC - RPG Maker Games Requested for Longplay

There's a couple already on here (such as To the Moon), but while most RPG Maker games come across as amateur and poorly designed, there are a few that are definitely worthy of a longplay.

Most of these games are free, developed by amateur developers as a past time hobby, and a few of them are pretty well designed.

Best sites to find these games are:

RPG Maker (rpgmaker.net)
RPG Maker Web (rpgmakerweb.com)
RPG Maker VX (rpgmakervx.net)
RPG Maker Ace (rpgmakervxace.net)

Here are several RM games I think are well worth it, and some of their content can be found on youtube with current "let's play" vids (usually with commentary), so if you're not sure you can check them out on youtube to get an idea of how the game plays. Heck, even if nobody picks these games up for a longplay, hopefully people will at least check these out for personal playthroughs. Most of these play well on the keyboard, but not sure about gamepads.

Most of these that I'm suggesting are free. Please note that while you do not need the actual game editor (rpg maker) to play these, in most cases you will need the RTP (which is free and can be found on the net). Also, I included the websites to where the games can be found, not sure if that's allowed or not, but if not my apologies, and won't do it again.

Recommend Games found on RMN: www.rpgmaker.net

1. Super Mario RPG: The Seven Sages (http://rpgmaker.net/games/2051/downloads/) - This is probably one of the finest, commercial like fangames I've ever seen. It plays out like any well known Mario rpg, and probably even better in some cases. It's a bit high on the level grinding, but well worth it.

2. Star Stealing Prince (http://rpgmaker.net/games/3554/downloads/) - Probably the best RPG Maker VX game around. The visuals and audio are stunning. The game is hard, but worth it every step of the way for the story alone. There's also a complete walkthrough for this, including how to get both the good and bad endings: http://www.starcadets.org/downloads/StarStealingPrinceWALKTHROUGH.pdf

3. Alter A.I.L.A. Genesis (http://rpgmaker.net/games/272/downloads/) - This, you just have to check out for yourself. It's a side scrolling rpg with a mind-boggling story with a sci-fi setting. Here is a youtube trailer to the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXk1mSaQ1Lw

4. Backstage (http://rpgmaker.net/games/809/) - A 2D survival horror style game with crappy visuals, but the gameplay is decent and the story is top notch.

5. Desert Nightmare (http://rpgmaker.net/games/917/downloads/) - Another 2D survival horror game with a decent story, a creepy atmosphere, and some challenging puzzles.

6. Generica (http://rpgmaker.net/games/1044/downloads/) - Plays homage to the DQ series using similar DQ graphics and gameplay. It was even featured in a Russian gaming magazine with a compilation CD: http://rpgmaker.net/games/1044/blog/3132/

7. Hero's Realm (http://rpgmaker.net/games/82/downloads/) - Super long rpg designed by the same person that did Generica, this one plays out in a similar style as Dragon Quest IV over 5 chapters, each of which introduces a new hero and their party. What separates this from other games is that once the hero's get together, they each still control their own separate parties.

8. Final Fantasy: Blackmoon Prophecy (http://rpgmaker.net/games/427/downloads/) - I haven't actually played this myself yet, but as far as fan games go, it's supposed to be one of the best.

9. Bloodsphere (http://rpgmaker.net/games/2269/downloads/) - Visuals could use a bit of work, but the story is well written.

10. Ravenwood Horror (http://rpgmaker.net/games/4854/downloads/)

11. Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost (http://rpgmaker.net/games/3385/downloads/) - Another well done fangame, which captures the gameplay and style of the DQ franchise.

Recommend Games found elsewhere

1. Last Scenario (http://site.scfworks.com/?page_id=8) - Fairly hard, but well written and designed rpg. It takes a bit of time to get the story going, though.

2. Exit Fate (http://site.scfworks.com/?page_id=10) - By the same developer as Last Scenario.

3. Castlevania: Sonata in Red (http://sonatainred.webs.com/download.htm) - An odd mix, but worth giving it a try. It's a top down, action-driven, turn-based rpg made with RPG Maker 2003. There are youtube vids to check out before you download this.

4. Tales of the Drunken Paladin (http://www.drunkenpaladin.com/)

5. Nightmare (http://rmrk.net/index.php/topic,45736.0.html)

And finally, a few commercial RM games (not free), but still worth it for those who have it and want to do a longplay

1. Eternal Eden (http://www.blossomsoft.com/?p=182)
2. Any game from John Wizard (http://www.johnwizard.com/)
3. Deadly Sin (http://rpgmaker.net/games/4605/downloads/)
4. Deadly Sin 2 (http://rpgmaker.net/games/4606/downloads/)
5. Aveyond Series. They're kind of all over the place, but Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aveyond_series) tells you all the games in the series. The first game in the series (Ahriman's Prophecy) is free to download, and is an action rpg.

Edit October 8, 2013:
First, I realized I closed off abruptly, without so much as a thank you or goodbye. These are a lot of games I've mentioned, for sure, and I didn't want to overwhelm anybody, but at the same time I wanted to show people there is a market out there for hobby / indie games, many of which are free, and could also benefit from a longplay. Perhaps by setting up an RPG Maker category under PC?

Anyways, for the longplayers, don't feel obligated to do these if you don't want, I just wanted to throw in what I felt were some good suggestions.

Finally, one game that escaped my mind yesterday since I couldn't think of it at the time I came up with the list is:

Tales of A'ailogas: Under (http://www.rpgrevolution.com/game/tales-of-aailogas-under_36.html). It's turn-based rpg, but very puzzle driven, so if anybody is interested in picking up a puzzle rpg for playing or for longplaying, you should try this one out.

Thanks again, longplayers!
