Player's Review

The game is quite easy but also very lacklustre with no real story or ending and it is surprising Namco put there name on it as it is not up to the standard of all there other Ace Combat games even given the limitations of the GBA. It wont take long to finish and there is no replay value. There is no difference finishing on normal and ace difficulties and no difference if having all s rank or not.

The longplay is played on Ace difficulty and S Rank is attained on every level. Earning S Rank is simply done by completing both Primary and Secondary objectives. Time taken to complete does not matter. The main difference between difficulties is the amount of ammo you can hold. S Ranking early in the game unlocks better planes making later missions a doddle.

The main objective to S Rank is destroy all land targets (Buildings and Vehicles and ships in mission 3) and is the same for every level. The planes are never the target and are just there to be a nuisance. Only one mission you need to destroy a few planes to bring you score up to pass the objective. While I don't always take the recommended plane or loadout for each mission I think it is best to always take an air to ground secondary weapon as you get air to air missiles regardless anyway and the only targets you need to destroy are on the ground. It would be a waste to have 2 air to air weapons.
