Though I hate this game to be sure, I'll admit it's not really because of the graphics. But far be it from me to not whine about something! For one, it's tough to gauge what's the background and what's actual jumping material; many a time I found myself scraping down the sides of buildings, getting plaster all over my Hot Topic Ninja Pants.

Re: [Rejected] Titanic (ZX Spectrum)
This longplay was rejected because it did not meet the following requirements:

=> The required signature is missing from the video or is not properly formatted.
[img width=260]http://www.longplays.org/../../images/rejected_signature.png[/img]

=> The codec(s) used to encode the file are not H.264 (video) and/or AAC (sound).
[img width=260]http://www.longplays.org/../../images/rejected_codecs.png[/img]

=> Longplays of "older" consoles need to have their resolution doubled with no smoothing.
In this case, the submitted video was 260x200, and needed to be 520x400.
[img width=260]http://www.longplays.org/../../images/rejected_resolutiontoolow.png[/img]

=> Video quality was unsufficient. Compression was set too high.
[img width=260]http://www.longplays.org/../../images/rejected_compression.png[/img]

You can refer to the attached screenshot for evidence.

Here are some pieces of advice to help fix the errors:

Double check our requirement FAQ.
Refer to our encoding FAQ for details on how to properly capture/encode longplays.
Feel free to join our IRC channel for specific help.

Hope to hear from you soon. ;-)

Input:
We only accept MKV or MP4 files, not AVI. Accomplished by using MeGUI (some use MKVmerge, but those files bork on YT and I have to fix it if I process).

Files need to be one whole part. Append them with VirtualDub or this Avisynth script:
Code

AviSource("filedirectory"Wink +
AviSource("filedirectory"Wink

I use AviSynth to append.

For a codec, I suggest something like TSCC (some people use that. It's fast, but it eats hard drive space) or ffdshow (as H.264 lossless. This is what I use personally. Not as fast, but it doesn't eat the hard drive space.)

When you submit a longplay, use your handle in the siggy and text file, not your real name. On the subject of text files: your Titanic text file is the same as the NavyMoves text file.

Be sure to visit the IRC (and hope one of us is on.)
We don't want to lose another longplayer.

Edit: I'm going to assume NavyMoves is the same, what with the folder looking identical to the Titanic folder.

My input:
It was a good effort, buuuuuuuuuut...
I notice that there is a FRAPS counter is in the upper-left corner. Also, the video was dark. Frame rate was 23 FPS. Also, when I try to use DivX player or VLC, I get an error.

This is from VLC:
"VLC does not support the audio or video format "mp4a". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this."
I think it might be the audio. Are you using NeroAac on default settings?

To meet the resolution goal, use PointResize.
Code

PointResize(width*2, height*2)

Might I suggest getting this emulator. It has AVi Recording (and can rerecord if you want to abuse save states. In short, start the game, choose to make a movie file, play the game as normal while abusing save states, and then play the movie and dump AVI)

As for recording codec: I personally use an older version of ffdshow (ffdshow beta 7 rev 3154 build 20091209). It is for H.264 lossless. FFV1 is good too, unless you have the space. Others use Techsmith TSCC. I'm not an expert (or knowledgable) at this stuff. Just use a lossless codec (is lossless even a word? o_O).

I suggest taking one more go at it. We don't want to lose a potential longplayer. D: (and another game to the ever increasing database of gaemz.)

If the higher ups think I am at fault, call me out.

Re: [Accepted] Portal 2: Single Player (PC)
This longplay was accepted, although the resolution was set too high (1600x900).
Please check our requirements. Maximum resolution for PC longplays should be 1280x720 or 1280x800.

There are valid reasons for this:
1) Hi res videos require a powerful computer to play smoothly.
2) Hi res videos require a monitor of at least the same resolution as the lp to take advantage of the video.
3) Hi res videos produce heavier file sizes

Many of our viewers don't have a powerful computer or a hi res monitor.

Please make sure to use a more suitable resolution in your next longplays.
Keep up the good work. Hope to see more longplays from you. ;-)

Virtual Dub is used a lot for editing. If you have to edit your video in Virtual Dub before encoding you might as well crop out black borders in virtual dub. That way you won't have to worry about it in Megui. There's no wrong way which to use to remove black borders. Either Virtual Dub or Megui should work. I see JonL's idea of removing unwanted frames in Megui, is more complicated to do it that way. It's much easier to to remove them manually in virtual dub especially if you used 1000 save states in emulators that does not have ReRecording.

SchLauchi recommends to edit your videos in virtual dub if it needs editing before encoding in Megui. I submitted longplays since last year and always done it that way.

I made a little mistake when I reuploaded the files.

In the txt file, it still states that filesize is 64 MB, this is incorrect, it is actually 31 MB.

This longplay was rejected because it did not meet the following requirement:

=> The codec used to encode the file is not AAC or MP3 (sound).

We've had complains from viewers in the past because they didn't have the required CODEC to properly play our longplays and were not willing to install them.

The rest of the longplay was perfect, so don't change a thing. Excellent job for a first submission! :great

Hope to hear from you soon. ;-)

Re: [Accepted] Popeye The Sailor Man: Tale of the Sea Hag (SNES)
And then you will have to save a new video file and wait for that to finish.

Why do that when you can just use AviSynth to crop (again, use MeGui's AVS script creator to find crop values. Auto Crop is really useful, but if it chews off more than needed, it can be adjusted.) and encode the files like you normally do with MeGui (y'know...make Mp4 files and then mux).

That is what I did when I did Parasite Eve: cropped the void from RemoteJoyLite, did some stuff, made MP4 files. Didn't have to use VirtualDub to make a new video file (I only use VirtualDub to find the frames and "trim" them out.)

You can also crop out black borders using virtual dub. Just go edit -->Filters-->click on null transformation-->click on crop selection and then press up or down for X1, Y1, X2, and Y2 to crop out black borders. That's it.
