Re: [Accepted] Popeye The Sailor Man: Tale of the Sea Hag (SNES)
If you rescale the video after cropping borders, you'll make it blurry!
The only acceptable rescaling is doubling the resolution when the original one is too low (like 320x200 => 640x400).

It is totally valid if the video loses the original resolution because of cropping.

Re: [Accepted] Popeye The Sailor Man: Tale of the Sea Hag (SNES)
To crop out borders, use MeGui's AVS Script Creator.

Give MeGui the video file, select crop, and start cropping. You can use Auto-Crop, but it is not always perfect (sometimes will eat more than needed). Just adjust accordingly. Then go to the script(? Can't remember. Not on XP. It is one of the taps) and copy and paste the crop script

After cropping, maybe resize the video to a system's native resolution (for SNES, it will be 256x224)

Code

crop(a, b, c, d)
LanczosResize(256, 224)

We accepted the Popeye longplay, but please don't forget to crop black borders in subsequent longplays ;-)

Re: [Accepted] Vollgas (Full Throttle) (GERMAN)
The Vollgas longplay was accepted, but please add the required signature at the start of your longplays in the future, otherwise we probably won't accept them.

Refer to this tutorial for more details.

Re: [Rejected] Double Dragon V (SNES)
This longplay was rejected because it did not meet the following requirements:

=> Longplays of "older" consoles need to have their resolution doubled with no smoothing.
=> The video was encoded in an unnecessary high resolution of 1024x896.
Longplays on the chosen platform should be 512x448.

You can refer to the attached screenshot for evidence.

Here are some pieces of advice to help fix the errors:

Double check our requirement FAQ.
Refer to our encoding FAQ for details on how to properly capture/encode longplays.

This longplay was rejected because it did not meet the following requirements:

=> The required signature is missing from the video or is not properly formatted.
[img width=260]http://www.longplays.org/../../images/rejected_signature.png[/img]

=> Longplays of "older" consoles need to have their resolution doubled with no smoothing.
In this case, the submitted video was 160x144, and needed to be 320x288.
[img width=260]http://www.longplays.org/../../images/rejected_resolutiontoolow.png[/img]

=> Video quality was unsufficient. Compression was set too high.
[img width=260]http://www.longplays.org/../../images/rejected_compression.png[/img]

=> Texts in the game were garbled. Emulation issue? Bad ROM dump?

=> Oh, yeah! I almost forgot: the longplay is incomplete. You didn't reach the end of the game.

You can refer to the attached screenshot for evidence.

Here are some pieces of advice to help fix the errors:

You need to do the MeGUI / mkvmerge GUI part in the following FAQ:

Re: [Accepted] Cocoron
It's not just you, I tried to remux it with the megui thing, but megui did not want to do that for me, for some reason :-( I think JonL remuxed it, but he hasn't uploaded it yet, which would explain why the time on the video is 10 seconds longer on youtube than in vlc etc.. (That is why i tried remuxing it in the first place...)

I dunno if it is me...

The one I downloaded from this site won't play on DivX Player, yet it will in VLC. (dunno why I have the DivX player in the first place.)

When I uploaded it to YouTube, the audio desynced. Yet...the audio is in sync when I played in VLC.

Was mkvmerge used to make the file?

I'm going to remux to fix the audio desync and upload it to YouTube.

Re: [Accepted] Cocoron
Now, we are going to accept this video under some doubts, it is a bit too compressed, and there are some deinterlacing issues in it. In the future try not to compress the video as much, and avoid deinterlacing it please.
Keep in mind that filesize is not an issue here :-P But quality is...

This longplay was rejected because it did not meet the following requirements:

=> The video was encoded in an unnecessarily high resolution of 800x600. This resolution is neither a native console resolution nor a multiple of any native resolution.
As this game clearly does not support HD, the only accepted resolution is 720x480, also known as 480p.
