Player's Review

Port of kings Quest to the Master System by the Parker Bothers. The game uses a completely different engine to the usual Sierra interpreter so the game plays a bit differently. The graphics have all been re-drawn to resemble the original kings quest release. Its also a much faster game.

The scoring system is also different. I have no idea if I have got the maximum score as the game doesn't say. I have followed the Amiga longplay by Ironclaw on how to achieve maximum score on that system.

Some places where you would score in the original version are not possible in this version like opening the walnut to reveal gold. In this version its seen as a golden walnut when picked up. You don't need to open the pouch as its automatically seen that it contains diamonds. You cant look at, or fill the bowl before putting it on the wood cutters table. Also you don't get any extra points for go in and out of the water at the bottom of the well. And finally, you dont get points for letting the giant goto sleep in the clouds, but you do for killing it with the slingshot. These are just ones I noticed, there are maybe more differences.

At the end I kill the witch as she wouldnt appear when I was at the house earlier in the game. I also go pick up the clover when I didnt do at the start as I.....forgot it. It does add 1 extra point for picking it up.

Not shown in the longplay, but its way to easy to die in this version. Walking up and down the stone steps was a real pain with constantly slipping off. Thankfully nothing tried to chase me on the stairs like in other versions. Falling out of the tree, off the beanstalk, off the cliff and walking off the screen into water...all insta death!
