Player's Review

"This, the fastest of racing machines, incorporates state-of-the-art mechanisms,... the latest in CG technology allows SEGA to reproduce all the excitement and sensation one would expect to experience only in actual driving competition. "Virtua Racing is a much talked about game that enables you to feel the realism of a simulated Formula car race through the medium of superreal graphics. In addition, it incorporates a communications function which permits real time racing with multiple players simultaneously participating in the game. Its really thrilling scenes are sure to attract customers not only to the machine, but also to the location in general."

Not much to say about this one. The game is short consisting of only three races. It costs a coin a go and win or lose, its going to cost another coin to play some more.

The game is insanely challenging requiring almost perfect driving if the aim is to get first place. One crash or even a slight skid by clipping the curb can be enough to deny you the win. Time is not so much of a problem and its your lap times that determine the overall high score for the leader board. You need that first place win though in order to get the credit roll.

Bay Bridge is the most difficult track by far with the frontrunners flying round corners like its a Scalextric track making it difficult to keep up and losing ground on the last few corners. The game can be configured for grand Prix mode which sets each track to 20 laps, each race then taking approximately 15 mins.
