Player's Review
Sequel to Air Combat that was made exclusively for Namco System 22 arcade machines, specifically the Super variant that adds extra rendering features not present in the original revision.
It was never localized for western regions which means you have to deal with the Japanese language to figure out what is what at least in the mode selection screen, but to avoid any troubles that screen lets you pick up a mode, ranging from Practice to Advanced, as well as an additional Dogfight mode where you have to take down a total of 128 ships in order to get an ending which is exactly the same you get after completing Advanced. Destroying ships also rewards you with extra time depending on the weapon, 10 seconds if bullets were used and 5 seconds if destroyed with a missile instead.
Speaking of Advanced it is split into three branches that are determined by score: in Stage 1 you have to score at least 30,000 points to access Stage 2A, otherwise Stage 2B is automatically triggered, then in Stage 2A you have to reach the 60,000 points limit for the third branch, meaning you have to destroy every single ship with bullets only from the start. I don't know the required amount of points to access the second branch from Stage 2B but I guess it has to be over 50,000.
In each playthrough I select a different ship, as well as showing off every point of view, which can be changed with Start button. There are no credits upon completion of any mode unfortunately, it just throws a rank entry screen and Game Over afterwards.
