Woody Poko (Fan Translation)

Player's Review
The player controls an old wooden figure named Poko. He is a hero who has lived in harmony with humans for many years. For Poko, the goal is to find the fairy who would teach people to get back to being friendly with wooden dolls.
Woody Poko is a Japan-exclusive video game released for the Family Computer in 1986, and for MSX, NEC PC-8801, NEC PC-9801, FM-77AV and Sharp X1 in 1986 and 1987. It is a side-scrolling action role-playing game similar to Mystical Ninja/Goemon.
The player can equip one hand with a weapon, and the other with a passive tool, such as a lamp for dark areas. The player can buy gear, sleep at hotels, gamble, steal, go to trial to clear his name, and most importantly, adventure.
Players can steal the items in the store. But after stealing, the player's appearance is changed to resemble that of a thief. Only inns and pawn shops will admit the player after a theft has taken place, until he passes a trial. Poko's health regenerates when he has food, the maximum health depends on character level, which can be increased by accumulating experience points. The game features an in-game clock, with day/night cycles. Except for Inns, buildings can only be visited from 9:00 to 20:00.
At the start of the game, the player may choose between playing as a girl or as a boy. The girl gets more advices from advice shops, some advice shops only give hints to the girl, she also buys all shop items at half the price. The boy has no advantages.
This game is much more complex than it may seem at first. For example, most items have two functions, an obvious one and a secret one.
The translation could use some improvement. The translator changed Poko's words about wooden dolls to a Jason reference, because they didn't know that Poko is a wooden doll. The original Japanese dialogue is filled with puns, but the translator could not show it in their translation.
This longplay contains two playthroughs. In the first one, I play as the girl and try to show as much of the game as I can. In the second one, I play as the boy and show some alternative outcomes, while also showing some stuff which I didn't know of when I was playing as the girl.
