Player's Review

A straight-up classic arcade style shmup game made by Konami that was released exclusively in Japan (although later some bootlegs appeared on multicartridges that I bet a lot of you guys played). It was quite confusing when you first played this game, especially when you probably had no idea how the heck the bell appeared when you shoot and how the heck you can upgrade Twinbee. Good time, right?

The graphic is pretty good-looking considering you're in the sky looking down the ocean. Not so many color, but it's pretty self-explanatory when it comes to this very 8-bit console. Gameplay is wonderful for the time (and I'm actually a huge fan of shmup), but there's actually some minor flaws, especially a bit wonky hitbox they had, which they really improved later on.

I really hope you get yourself a turbo controller because mashing the button itself in this game could be quite a pain too.

There are only 5 main stages. When you complete them, the game loops to a bit harder levels, with enemies increasing their speed, and more enemy spawn. This longplay contains 2 loops, for the heck of a qualified longplay, I decided to play them twice (beat stage 10).

And one thing I do want to point out is that after stage 3, a majority of consoles will actually make level 4 and level 5 glitched, so I decided to make another backup of the ROM I have and patch the sprites from later levels to the 1st 3 stages, so I can record the game twice, because I'm using QuickNES (accuracy kthx, I actually know that Nestopia and VirtuaNES does patch the issue automatically).

Anyway, enjoy as always! We'll do a 2-Player longplay of this in the future, so stay tuned!
