Player's Review

Shinseiki/Future GPX: Cyber Formula is a futuristic racing game that was released in 1992 to Japan and North America (with name Cyber Spin) for the Super NES. The game uses a top-down perspective and was designed in the same technique as classic arcade racing games. All of the automobiles are turbocharged with advanced futuristic technology that allows for extra speed every time a "Power Boost" is used (at the cost of the vehicle's energy reserves). The vehicles of the two versions are completely different from each other. The Japanese version of the game is based on the (excellent) anime Future GPX Cyber Formula and just like in the anime, has as its main focus the character Hayato Kazami (racer for the Sugo Team), piloting a super machine Asurada GSX. On one part of the game the car evolves into Super Asurada SA-01 and gains the ability to adapt to various types of track (by pressing Y). Each race is divided into free training (cross three laps around the track within the time limit to qualify) and the race itself. All races take place in different countries (Japan, USA, Peru, Brazil, Canada. UK, Norway, Africa, Spain, Germany and Japan again). Difficult, but good game (japanese version is good, US version sucks).
