George of the Jungle and the Search for the Secret
|
Player's Review
Based on the TV show. Built using the same engine as in VeggieTales, Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey and Coraline, this platformer also received a port for PS2 where the only difference is the controls scheme. The plot is about George who is told to find some secret cure for the villagers, only to later find out it's something (spoiler alert) much more common in the form of a granny's recipe.
Each world in the game consists of two stages, each one with a boss fight, and a minigame (except for the Temple Ruins, where defeating the final boss triggers the ending), also that all nine pineapples have to be found in order to unlock three additional minigames that are only accessible via stage selection. All of them are shown at the end. By the way, I had to figure out the location of the third pineapple for the first world on my own due to the lack of a proper guide back when I recorded this.
As this is the Wii version played, most of the special moves require motion gestures to pull them off. I guess it's easier to perform on PS2 due to more traditional controls. Overall a short-length platformer that seems to not offer much in terms of content, but still somewhat enjoyable to some extent.
