Player's Review

"You play Krazy Ivan, a Russian soldier with a crazy mission! So leap into your forty foot power suit and get ready to riot. Equipped with an outrageous armory of weapons ranging from 30mm guns to the ground breaking tsunami earthquake generator, you'll be more than prepared for the craziest all-out blasting experience this side of the future."

An early first person game from Psygnosis putting you in control of a Jaeger mark 1 developed by the Russian mobile armor division. The game looks quite basic compared to what will follow with colony Wars and Shadow Master in 1997. Very short game with only five levels. The game is quite quick and twitchy in movement which may be a result of the game not being well adjusted to ntsc and left to run as fast as possible. No auto aim in this one and it can be a real pain to adjust vertical aim while strafing. And you'll be strafing a lot as its pretty much the only way to survive.

In each level you have a number of Sentinels to destroy. Between each one you have a time limit to farm drones for ammo, powerups and energy cores which are used to buy upgrades for your mech. Prisoners are also dropped which can be collected and serve merely as a score bonus. If the time limit should be reached then the Black Knight will appear and need to be destroyed before the next Sentinel will appear. Some powerups have negative effects like reversing your controls or sending an airstrike your way.

It is a good idea to farm energy cores so that you can apply weapon upgrades between levels. You also get to save at the end of each level. Upgrade the missiles and main gun when you can. For the special weapon I really like the Vortex Bomb as it makes very quick work of the shield generator. The Armor upgrade seems to be a red hearing for using up cores with no real gain. I wasn't able to show all abilities. The game could have done with another level or two or maybe I should have spent more time farming.

Once all 5 shield gens have been destroyed, you get to face off against the Black Knight which seemed really easy for a final boss. One real annoyance in the game is the pausing right before new enemies or sentinels appear as the disc is loading. It's worth noting that on the Highscore screen, the first letter of each name spells out Plastikman ... whatever than means.
