Player's Review

Europe version of Gran Turismo 2 Arcade Mode. For better or worse I have shown full replays after every race making the video quite long. I would be interested in any comments regarding showing replays or not for any future racing games I might record.

The Europe release of the game is using mixed resolutions which are represented here as 704x480 interlaced for menu screens and 640x512 for the races which is why the video has borders. Nothing is cut! The soundtrack is quite limited in the number of songs and I personally prefer the soundtrack of the first game. I think the developers / publishers cheapened our version of the game in this respect and I don't think all the songs really suit a racing game.

I have shown a full run through of Arcade mode in the order listed in the Bonus Items menu. All tracks have been unlocked by completing all the licenses in GT Mode. Playing on hard unlocks Extra cars and gives access to reverse versions of the tracks. Arcade mode here is much for difficult than the previous game. While you get alot of cars to choose from, here ony the fastest will be of any use for hard mode. In the previous game all cars had a similar chance of winning. I play here with Tire damage enabled.

If it looks like I'm drink driving, its because I am constantly fighting the left or right pull effect of a damaged wheel. The annoying thing is I can have damage even if the indicator does not show it. It is quite difficult to show a varied range of cars but I am trying any new unlocked cars as they are made available. I think the game is trying to encourage me to use any high powered cars I may have from simulation mode.

A note regarding the ending. Another decision taken by the developer / publisher to cheapen the europe version of the game is that there is no ending for completing Arcade mode. In order to unlock the Ending Credits on the Arcade disc, you need to complete entire GT League in Simulation mode. The JAP/US release has 2 different endings.
