Destruction Derby

This game was released not long after the launch of playstation and was another system seller and one of the first games to reach platinum status. It was a radicaly different driver game than were used to playing which were usually high speed racers or simulators.

The game offers a few different modes of play, but I choose to stay in t he default Wrecking racing mode. In ths mode I have to bash and spin out other cars for point and particularly the car in 1st offers the most points. My strategy here is to race to the front, get a few points on the way and then bash the car in 1st a few times. let him pass and bash him again before completing the race to get points for finishing at the front. It doesn't always play out that way, but it works for the most part and is quite a fair game although usually its the same opponent racing for first place in your division each race.

I show a full championship, all divisions which means you will see the same or similar course several times. The opponents are a bit more fierce in each higher division and points are not as easy to come by.

I finish the video showing the unlocked bonus track. Why its a bonus and not part of the game I do not know. I show off the pro car here, which is fast and no grip at all, so hitting another car to spin it usually ends up spinning my own car. This car is best if playing in Stock car racing mode I think where you only need to race to first and win each track.

Each division ends with a Dust Bowl battle. this is a fairly fun mode to play as well. Before I play the last race, I quickly show the Pit Crew option which shows all the different team lorries and cars.
