Player's Review

Tunnel B1 is a game from neon that originaly had two distinct gameplay elements. The hover craft game you see in this video, and some helicopter sections which were later split off into a separate game called Viper. The game can move at a slick 60fps at times (wont see on ytube version) and the gfx engine has some nice lighting effects. Then there soundtrack produced by the legendary Chris Huelsbeck.

The game is quite difficult and can be quite annoying when loosing a life means starting the level all over again. I would have expected that from 'Continues' but not 'lives'. I start out playing quite aggressively not watching my own health mainly to show what can damage your ship. By level 3 I start to play it safe as health pickups are very few and far between. Well...actually they may not be so few, as you can destroy radioactive crates and collect their contents within a second or two before the explosion radiates the entire area which tears away at your health bar each time you pass through that room.

There are weapons to unlock and level up as you progress, but I often find the basic level 3 cannon most effective especially up close. Enemies often fire flares making rockets useless. Mines are deadly to enemies and your self so I don't often use these and usually only in non combat situations. The smart bomb is awesome for clearing an area and the Super smart bomb (which uses five units) is really good and killing strong enemies. I don't often use it, but I do cheese my way past the final boss by Smart Bombing the area.

01:34:04 - After completing the game, I start a new game using my completed save game. I just show the first level which shows that I have max weapon ammo, no wait....Infinite ammo! I could probably cheese my through the whole game in 20 mins or so spamming Super Smartbomb the whole time Smile
