Player's Review

US English version of Juggernaut. Released on PlayStation in 1999. The game comes on 3 cd's and uses fmv clips to show the story much in the same way as games such as D and Myst.

The game is very long and dialogue heavy. There is lot's to read and the game does have large areas of silence in the game. The way the narrative talks to you summing up everything you just read just adds to the longativity and bordom factor. Initialy the game starts of fine and makes some sort of sense. But as you progress its hard not to wonder what the story actually is about. If the game ended after the mansion section it would have been ok. But no, it is dragged out further by 8 separate stories that need to be played though which is supposed to tie in with the main game but really just makes it drag out into near boredom. This was not a fun game. Also the graphic quality of the fmv seems 3-4 years out of date even by ps1 standards.

Here is the plot summed up at Wikipedia:-
"The player controls an unnamed young man whose girlfriend, Sarah, has been possessed by demonic forces. A priest appears to instruct him on how to save her soul. After shedding his mortal body the man enters Sarah?s mind, which has taken the shape of a large mansion. He must then collect items, solve puzzles, and utilize different bodies provided in the mansion to unlock the microcosm hub. This leads to other parts of Sarah?s soul that must be cleansed. As he nears the final confrontation with the devil, he quickly discovers that there are other, more pressing mysteries about his encounter that need to be solved."

There are puzzles in the mansion that require utilising both body types and it is a real chore having to switch between the two especially given the need to travel between different floors in the mansion to reach the required machine. Once the game is completed, with a really naff ending, I go back into the mansion to tie up some loose ends and show the real ending to the game.
