Player's Review

From Wiki:-
"Clock Tower II: The Struggle Within, released in Japan as Clock Tower: Ghost Head, is a survival horror point-and-click adventure game developed by Human Entertainment and released for the PlayStation in 1998. It is the third game in the Clock Tower series, and is considered a spin-off in its home country of Japan where it was not a numbered release. The story follows 17-year-old Alyssa Hale who suffers from multiple personality disorder with an alter ego named Mr. Bates. The player must guide Alyssa through various environments, altering between her normal and twisted personality, to uncover the secrets of her and her family's past."

The game is not connected in any way to original two games and instead tried to be a new horror themed game using similar mechanics to the previous games yet somehow makes them worse with some really bad game play ideas. Interestingly, the game runs in a hires interlaced 512x480 mode. The video is not aspect corrected which you may want to do for a more tv like viewing.

Similar to the previous game, you have two personalities. Again only one can use the shotgun for easy kills and the other can only use traps of which there are a limited number in each chapter. This is fine for the first chapter which plays like the original game, but later zombies are added and there are lots of them. you cant hide from these in lockers as they will just re spawn in the room where you found them. Chapter 3 in particular feels really broken and badly designed as there are only a couple of traps and only 2 with infinite uses. Nearly every room has a zombi to kill so you have to backtrack all the time to kill them. Its really quite game breaking and drags the game out.

In the longplay I go for the A Rank Ending which is the only one with an ending video. Like the first game there are events which can make or break your run for a particular ending, and you will not find out until the end of the game if you have done it right or not. I tried to collect all hints but found it annoying to do as you have to be using a particular personality or even of full health for them to be found. I'm not even sure if they can be found right away. I do however use a completed game save at the end of the video to show them. Normally you would need to get every game ending to unlock the game info but I again use a completed savegame file to show these. While I did want to show all endings, it proved to be a pain making sure I had not messed anything up on the route to A rank and gave up with that idea. The game is so bad I did not want to have to go through it all again.

The game can be completed in a much quicker time, but I have tried to show most of the traps being used and some small extra scare areas. Also, to speed things up you can let yourself die and then continue to remove your attacker. I didn't want to cheapen out doing this so spend much time backtracking however the video is not better for it.
