Action platformer something by Capcom!
Follow...ZERO?!...as he teams up with some kid to attend a tournament arc involving robot-on-robot violence. X is retired because X! This game is also pretty unanimously crowned the worst X game to date! Even worse than X6 (and we know how X6 is.

Gameplay is still the same ol' formula: shoot/slash things, get power-ups here and there, get to boss, beat up said boss, get their weapon, and figure out the next boss because you have the weakness...while in 2D and 3D segments! (3D segments are pretty horrible, especially at the end of the game) Plot twist: the weakness you have, depending on the boss, is pretty useless since they don't do a lot of damage (NA/EU versions damage values are lower than JP version) and in some cases you don't have enough ammo to even defeat the boss with weakness. The Reploid saving thing from X6 is present and made it much much MUCH worse. Even more worse is that the titular character is not even SELECTABLE at the beginning and is gated by reploid saving. By time you even get X, there's a chance you can't get him powered up a bit but he's pretty busted overall, especially when you get his armor (uses X1-X4 system, where you get parts that are usable immediately). Most special weapons overall are pretty useless (i think it rivals X3 in that department), though Volt Spiral is pretty dumb. lol
This longplay slashes, dashes, shoots, and dies on Normal difficulty while getting all the goodies I can remember finding. Not shown: lots and lots and LOTS of reloading because Reploid rescuing is REALLY dumb. There are a few times I have to revisit a stage because of one last lousy reploid. I only played this game, like...3 or 4 times in my life. It's just not a fun game. At all.
