Player's Review

This might be the laziest use of the laserdisc yet. Its is just a rolling background with no impact on the gameplay at all. Problems can arise with some of the backgrounds which don't contrast very well with the colour of the sprites making them near invisible to avoid or shoot at. While the background animations look great, it is jarring when a broadcast tv wipe effect is used to transition between scenes.

The gameplay is fairly simple. Shoot down any enemies appearing onscreen as well as missiles on later levels. At least it would be simple if the hit detection appeared responsive. Also destroying any enemy pauses the firing while it explodes which is annoying. On some stages you get bombs you can use against ground targets which again is a roll of the dice for hit detection. The game does get progressively more difficult as it speeds up and falling bombs start changing direction mid flight although you do have some influence on that.

While the game does end after 24 stages, the ending is abrupt in that it just results in a game over. There doesn't appear to be multiple skill levels so the game just ends up being a score attack for replay value, if you are into that.
