Maybe not much different compared to original, but nice shooter nonetheless. Levels are way too repetitive though. The game would be much better with half the length. Also, clearly more effort was put into specific levels when compared to others.

I like that secondary weapons can be upgraded, but the system is somewhat unintuitive and flawed. There are total of 7 different secondary weapons and each has 6 power levels. Weapon is chosen at the beginning of a game, but can be changed during game by collecting a number corresponding to a specific weapon. When a number same as equipped weapon is collected, an upgrade is rewarded. Switch to a new weapon results in 2 levels substracted from power. When you run out of ammunition you'll lose all upgrades.

I don't see why you can't upgrade each weapon separately and change at will. This favors the player to use only one weapon, such as homing, that seems more useful than others. Another source of bewilderment is why the weapons need to be numbers, it would be much easier if you could just see an icon of what you're collecting instead of having to memorize what weapon is which number. In this video all 7 weapons are shown upgraded to maximum level.
