Glider Rider, released by Quicksilver in 1986

The object of the game is to destroy all the generators on the outside of the enemy base to disable the defences before destroying the last 2 inside the base. This is done by disabling the power to each defence weapon and then gliding over the generator to bomb it. Sounds easy but it is anything but as it requires per frame precision to get the timing right as the defence grid will shoot you down once it comes back online. You do have a time limit of 30mins and a limited amount of energy that can not be refilled. If the defence gun gets you it will bring you done quickly. Bombs can be replenished.

The controls are the game biggest hindrance as you have to get pixel perfect precision as you ride down a hill and pull back in the opposite direction to launch. Then you have wind direction to worry about which will determine how long you stay in the air.

The game is only short when you know what you are doing and everything goes right. The music stands out here is a good rendition of the c64 version and played through out. The music switches as you switch between bike and glider mode.
