Player's Review

"Join the Angry Video Game Nerd and friends as they blast their way through 10 levels of fun, fast-paced 2D action based on the Angry Video Game Nerd's adventures. With multiple playable characters, power-ups, cameos galore, tons of secrets, and more – if you're a fan of old school difficulty, The Nerd, and/or old school platformers, chances are you'll enjoy Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures. Some say "hard" but we're saying "rewarding". Why? Because every checkpoint you get, every boss you beat, every accomplishment is something you've earned. This is a game that allows you to brag to your friends if you beat it. Yes, this is the official The Angry Video Game Nerd game!"

The 3DS port is pretty much a no frills version of the original pc game. The same content, the same cheats but no in game achievements. The game is in 3D though which works well enough with the multi layer backgrounds and the effect of enemies exploding towards you is good.

I wasn't sure how I wanted to show the game so I have edited the initial save game file to unlock all difficulty levels. I considered going yolo but thought it best to go with standard Oldskool so I could show lives and energy locations. Completing oldskool normally unlocks the next difficulty level and the loop continues until yolo. Before starting I show the Konami code cheat which causes a blue screen doesn't do anything to the gameplay.

The longplay is a no death run to better show off the game without interruptions but its something that was always in the back of my mind that I should be showing deaths as the funny death notes are part of the game and probably why it throws tens of lives at you. You can at least see those in other longplays of the game on the channel. I have taken care to show the eight shit pickle locations as well as the thirteen cameo characters. Interestingly the game stats screen does not record them as collected unless you quit the game and go back to the menu. Finishing the game isn't enough!

The first three levels are played in a specific order in order to unlock the other playable characters as soon as possible. The remaining levels were not played in any specific order. Collecting a super scope doubles the nerds firepower and comes in real handy for the boss battles should you have it by that point. Just note that switching to any other character will drop it.

After completing the game I show game over screen which is ..omg ... just... wow.
