Player's Review
"The smoothest, most realistic arcade motorcycle game ever hits the Amiga with the arrival of Prime Mover.
Featuring 5 awesome bikes, a huge selection of the most challenging tracks from around the world & realistic and testing riding conditions, Prime Mover screams onto the grid and into pole position ahead of all the competition. So if you want to sample the power and sheer excitement of the international bike racing circuit, then Prime Mover is the clear winner..."
A fast Motor Cycle racing game that looks kind of impressive running on an A500 with a fast and fluid game engine perfectly selling the illusion of speed immersing you into the racing. It kind of resembles the Lotus racing games but with bikes. I don't generally get on with bike racing games, especially the mouse controlled 3d ones, but the arcade hang on style is alright along with the likes of Super Cycles and Road Rash.
Being quite a late game in the Amigas life and especially coming from Psygnosis, the gfx, sfx and especially music are top notch and good reason to fire up the game alone. You get five bikes to chose from which start with an advantage of acceleration, best for tracks with lots of tight curves and at the other end of the scale, bikes with great top speed, good for tracks with long straights. Once I have shown all bikes in use I tend to stick to the middle being a well balanced ride but there are still some tracks with real tight turns that can throw you out.
The longplay goes through all tracks in the championship to eventually reveal the ending image. At the end of the video I add the game over image. Overall a good motorcycle racing game that might have benefited from having a bit more to do like pit stops or damage repair with a race structure similar to Jaguar Xj220 but as it is its a nice racer that isn't overly difficult but you do have to downshift and brake occasionally. You wont get far by holding the accelerator down outrun style. The only notable bugs encountered is that on a couple of tracks, the signage would be placed in the road instead of at the side. Best way to tackle these is to go round them as you lose to much speed trying to to take the narrow space properly and the opponent racers will take full advantage of that.
