Taito's Bubble Bobble Arcade game saw a conversion to pretty much every home computer and console ever and will no doubt see more on future consoles. Software Creations handles the C64 and Amiga game (maybe others) and the result is a pretty faithful version of the game on both machines. Not perfect but conversions rarely are.
The game is intended as a two player experience but plays fine in single player of course. In the Arcade game, it is an important factor in seeing the true ending but that is missing in the Amiga game so it does not matter with no way to access Super Bubble bobble mode (The C64 has this). Other notable missing features are many of bonus items. The three secret rooms are the exact same and the Extend screen is not animated at all and quite annoying as you have to wait a moment for the screen to load and then it sits there for more seconds before jumping to the next level. The final boss isn't animated at all and moves annoyingly fast. There are other minor differences but on the whole, it doesnt really matter. Its still a good conversion and unless you know the original game inside out, you would have been happy playing this game as I was.
The longplay plays through all stages avoiding any umbrella level warps as well as the last secret door that jumps from level fifty to seventy. The three secret rooms are shown. I don't rush through this playthrough. I try to manipulate the bonus items with jumping and bubble popping amongst other things and wait around for them to appear in the hope of being something cool to show like an explosion, level wipe-out or fireball! I try to activate Super mode a the end by bringing in the second player but ..nothing.
