Player's Review
"256 Color - 50 frame - 8 warriors/ Sprite 128 x 128 Sprite High Resolution From 17-19 Movements for Warriors.
You have to conquer the Tube Stations of Kyoto. To do it, you have to defeat all the leaders of the various bands, from the weakest to the king of the Tubes of Kyoto Mr. "Kyosci".
If you thought Dangerous streets was as bad as it gets for beat em ups on Amiga, hold that thought because a new new contender enters the ring in the form of tube Warriors intent on taking that crown.
When this was first shown in magazines I thought this was a made for free PD game where it looks quite good in screenshots and probably not to bad for a homemade game. But, no this thing is a commercial release. The game takes ages to load with plenty of waiting time between stages loading from floppy. The Intro is promising, with a nice animated train tunnel but then we get to the game. The menu allows to start in solo or two player vs mode. In two player you can be any character but in solo you can only play as Kenju, the weakest character in the game.
There are seven fights to battle through with each one progressively more difficult by making the opponents do more damage per hit. It's quite unfair this way. Maybe the ide is to skilfully use your moveset without button mashing a singular move but it doesnt matter as the collision detection is so bad the moves don't even need to connect tot he opponent. You get a few basic moves and on special move activated by holding fire. Problem is you have to hold fire so long that the opponent will hit you before you can get the special out and it's not all that impressive when you do manage to pull it off. The controls are terrible throughout though.
If you lose then it's back to fighting the first opponent, with no way back tot he main menu without a reboot. Completing the game also results in looping around again from the first opponent, not even a credit roll. About the only impressive part of the game is the backgrounds with the odd tube train passing by.
