Player's Review
"Ugh-Close and Personal. Before corporate sponsors and fashion gear, there were Cavemen. Competition was ugh-ly. Athletes won by bashing the other guy first. Pick your favourite Ugh-lympian. Club your way through six pre-hysterical events. beat your friends to the Caves of Fame."
A sports game for 1 to 6 players. Pick a caveman and play through six events. Mate Toss, Clubbing, Dino Vault, Dinosaur Race, Fire Making and Sabretooth Tiger Race. The player with the most points at the end ...wins.
The game opens with a nice intro and I then take you though each of the character bio's. It takes a while but we eventually get to the events. These are mostly played with specific joystick movements in each event. A little more complicated than the usual fastest stick wiggler wins approach but not as challenging as Winter Games figure skating!
It's not a bad game, but quite short and is over too quickly in single player mode. Graphics are very C64 but still detailed but my main gripe is the music. I guess its supposed to sound ..prehistoric but for me it just sounds really off and I'm not talking about slowdown from running a native US game in PAL mode. It just sounds bad / wrong to me.
The game comes on 2 disks (3 sides) but im using the Easyflash version for convenience.
