Player's Review

"The completely brilliant Spitting Image computer game. Save the World! Destroy the credability of six world leaders (Although Ronnie's got a new job) and save the world. Prevent armageddon from the comfort of your own park bench."

From Moby Games:-
"This game is based on the long-running British satirical television show with puppet likenesses of political figures and celebrities. A prophet determines that a world war will occur in seven years instigated by a mysterious leader. To avoid this, one ruler of the world must be determined in this beat 'em up involving six rulers: U.S.A.'s Ronald Regan, the U.K.'s Margaret Thatcher, the USSR's Mikhail Gorbachev, South Africa's PW Botha, Iran's Ayathollah Khomeini, and Pope John Paul II."

The game involves choosing a character and fighting off another while being judged by Queen Elizabeth II on a postage stamp. After each fight you can again choose who you want to battle. After you have fought 5 opponents in ever increasingly long fights you get to have one final battle in the mud pit. Should you win, the mysterious final leader will be revealed.

The fighting is quite basic. Fire and a direction to use one of four moves whilst being able to move and jump without the button pressed. A sidekick can be called upon two times to throw something at the enemy by pressing the shift key.

The C64 game is overall well presented with recognisable music from David Whittaker. Upon completing the game I show one last stage with the character previously won with as well as adding the bad ending if lose at mud slinging. It was a better fit here than the game looping back to the intro after loosing the fight.
