Player's Review

"When little Lucy is stolen by the terrible Achacha her two friends BIN and PEN really do get angry! They are determined to get her back. You can help either BIN or PEN take on many different types of baddie. Be warned ... these baddies are especially evil and very cunning. Like Sumo Pigs, Snappy Dogs, Boxing Crocs, Packs of Rats. Roller-skating Cats and more! But Both BIN and PEN have simply incredible punches! When they land a punch KERPOW! no one stands up. With water spouts, volcanoes and walls of fire to stop you, what do you think will happen when you get your hands on Achacha? Just remember, Lucy needs you!"

Some nice chunky c64 sprites and colourful gfx in this one, a bit of a standout. good presentation but what lets it down is some terrible collision detection in the gameplay and not so great music which is where the C64 should shine.

You can choose to play as Blue or Red from the title screen by waiting until the colour you want to play walks across the bottom of the screen. An interesting method I cant say ive seen other instances of. Music or sfx is also chosen on this screen. Gamplay is mostly a simple case of walking right while hitting enemies in your way and dodging or hitting projectiles. Sometimes you may need to jump on platforms and that requires pressing Spacebar which can be annoying at times. Along the way you can find differing weapons which can help or hinder you. If you are hit then you will drop the weapon and it may be lost.

There are six fairly short levels each with a mid level and ending boss fight. These can be annoying as the collision detection seems way off and there isn't a lot of visual feedback to show if you are making contact. Especially the end game bosses can cause frustration as its likely you wont have a weapon and need to use your fists, getting in close but don't know if you are causing any damage. If you are taking too long to defeat them, danger will flash warning that you will lose a life if you don't hurry up.

Overall, I think this is a nice game for 1988 but there are plenty of bugs to encounter which includes the music glitching, enemies sometimes not doing anything and bosses. The high score could have done with another digit as if you complete the game you can clock the score and end up low on the high score table. After the game is completed I go in just to show playing as PEN as well as the SFX mode. Ideally I would play as BIN as red tends to blend into the level colours.
