Player's Review

"Free the imprisoned fairy folk before they are obliterated by an evil Queen. She stoops to conquer the land Stormlord inhabits, destroying the peaceful euphoria with each annihilation. Stormlord's mission - free the captured and defend the peace and tranquillity of his realm. Unfortunately, he must repel the wicked monarch, but should he fail, the evil Queen and her dark sovereignty will reign forever ..."

Stormlod graced many of the 8 and 16 bit systems of the time each taking advantage of the abilities or inabilities of the platform so even the Spectrum got a good version. The game only has four levels and even with a good amount of lives the game can be brutal in its difficulty with fast moving sprites and projectiles coming at you and even if you manage to avoid them, there are disintegrating floors and deadly bushes to get you. The nice music does help to keep you interested and pushing along.

The longplay shows all four levels but sticks closely to the C64 game development rulebook and offers no ending, The game is a single load but I'm sure they could have managed a small screen of text. Reducing the title screen music by a few minutes might have helped. Speaking of which, I have saved the title music until the end of the video as its a long one with a great composition by Jeroen Tel.
