Player's Review

"You're on a jungle safari packed full of wild and zany adventures. Climb the cliffs to the top of Monkey Mountain as you try to reach the jungle's most mischievous gorilla. Don't get clobbered by the coconuts he'll throw your way. Watch out for menacing monkeys. Beyond Monkey Mountain you'll come to Lazy Lake where you'll see raging rhinos and hollering hippos. Leap from lily pad to lily pad across the treacherous lake filled with ferocious man-eating fish and other jungle dangers, but be careful... one slip and it's safari heaven!"

The original Sega release was limited by a 16kb cartridge giving the game only two screens. This second release is much more colourful and more detailed as well as containing all four screens of the arcade original and looks very much like the Apple II game. However each has to be loaded separately which wouldn't really work well from tape leading me to believe it wouldn't have seen an EU release as you can probably count the number of disk drive owners in the EU/UK on one hand in 1985.

The game has all four screens and each time you complete them, the game starts over at the next difficulty level. I cant be sure but I think the game has 9 difficulty levels before starting over much slower and easier on round 10.

Overall a much better game than the first release but still with some collision detection issues that can get you in trouble when jumping across platforms, not so much the enemies where it seems to work in the players favour. Loading between levels can be annoying, but would never work from tape having to rewind each time you clear the four stages.
