Player's Review

"NEW - Uridium with exciting new dreadnaught layout!

The solar system is under attack! Enemy Super- Dreadnoughts have been placed in orbit around each of fifteen planets in this galactic sector. They are draining mineral resources from the planetary cores for use in their interstellar power units. Each Super-Dreadnought seeks out a different metal for its metal convertor. Your Manta class Space Fighter will be transported to each planet in turn and it is your task to destroy each Dreadnought. First you must attack the defensive screen of enemy fighters, then you must neutralise the majority of surface defences before you land on the Super-Dreadnought's master runway. Once on board you must pull as many fuel rods as possible from the metal converters before you take off for a final strafing run as the Dreadnought vaporises into the ether."

An already noted, this is an updated release that was part of a double pack including 'Paradroid - Competition Edition' which was updated with a smoother running game amongst other things. Uridium (Plus?) has also been updated with new dreadnaught layouts and has support for 2mhz mode if a C128 (in c64 mode) is used although I'm not sure what it changes. Maybe slightly smoother levels. Biggest change is that you no longer have to survive and destroy waves before 'Land Now' appears. As soon as you see the runway you can go land any time to collect any bonuses and finish the stage.

The game is still difficult though as you fly across the dreadnaughts avoiding enemy waves, lock on mines, aerials and walls as you seek out the runway strips. It can also be tricky to spin the ship when needed in order to fly through tight gaps. After 15 levels the game loops back to level one.
