Player's Review

This game was not originally released at retail and may not be entirely complete. I have played on default (easy) setting as the other modes (normal and hard) just make the game really annoying with the enemies taking many many hits to kill. The game differs from the snes version in a lot of places.

The intro is much shorter and there is again, no ending. The game focuses on the aspect of saving the various atollers and eventually finding the tanker to complete the game. The gameplay differs slightly in that the resource collecting will decide how far you can go in the game. Not enough resources and you wont be able to sail anywhere and you will be stuck in a constant loop of saving the atolls for no reward. When getting to the diving sections you can replay these over and over, and you should do this to top up your collection of soil. This will buy you plenty of food to get through the game. You can also pick up one of a kind items which will be worth more when trading at specific atolls. I don't really show this aspect of the game as I wanted to trade everything asap.

Another thing to note is that there is no boss battle in this version. It just ends when you kill the last of the smokers. The Atoll defence sections are a fair bit easier than on the snes as you are constantly collecting weapon pickups and they usually only attack from one side. I wasn't able to destroy the ramp but at least i only have to defend one side.

The music is nothing special in this version although it does have its own style i guess even though I can hear the influence of another tune in the music.
