Player's Review

As a fan of the Wing Commander games, this has been along time comming but I think it was worth it. Its a good port thats geared towards the sega-cd's strenghts rather then a just hope for the best approach of monkey island.
It is more colourful then the Amiga 500 version and also faster due too the systems dual 68000's. Well I say faster, but once you get into heavier combat later in the game it crawls just as bad and is barely playable.

The biggest difference in this version against all others is the music. For unknown reasons to me, the music is completely different to the original game. It seems somehow more arcady now with a little final fantasy thown in. Of course the ingame speech replacing all text is a big and welcome addition which really adds to the immersion of the story. Id really have liked to have seen the speech added in the Amiga CD32 and PC cd versions though.

My Biggest hurdle which is what has led me to taking so long in wanting to play this version is the controls. It takes some getting used too even on a 6 button pad as the buttons also double up for button combos. Missles seemed mostly usless to me, as I either flew into them or shot em down. Final mission was nearly 30 mins as I decided to stay and kill everything instead of returning to the claw rightaway to claim my medal Wink

This is pretty much a perfect play through. No Ejections and all missions completed, even the "Impossible Mission". All the cutscene's are for the winning story arc. I have included at the end of the video the ejecting and death sequences.
