The Sega Classics Collection was a pack in game included with the SegaCD initially with four games (Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Columns and Revenge of Shinobi) and sometimes as a dual cd package including the Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective. following the EU release of the Mega-CD, the package the collection was updated with a fifth game (Super Monaco GP) and Limited Edition was added to the cover title. Interesting to note the the original four game release also carried the Limited Edition sub title in the Japanese region. The US updated release does not carry the limited edition name and also available packaged with Ecco the Dolphin CD.
Whilst overall the package might seem initially lacklustre especially if you already own the cartridge games, all of the games did get some enhancements thanks to the cd format so it's a nice starter disc if you received it as a pack in game. Probably not got much going for it if you had to buy it separately. Golden Axe received a full cd soundtrack using the original Arcade music and in game voice samples are at a higher resolution. The other games also receive higher quality audio samples and it should be noted that Revenge of Shinobi is an updated release changing some of the bosses due to marvel/dc copyrights. Columns gets cd title music.
