Player's Review

Also known as Torico in Japan and European regions. This Sega Saturn exclusive is a spiritual successor to the remake of the Sega CD game 'Mansion of Hidden Souls' as gameplay and other types of interaction with stuff are very similar.

The game is about a man named Fred (also known as The Traveler) who wanders around Misty Town trying to uncover his forgotten identity. His forehead bears the imprint of a strange symbol, which seems to be the source of his amnesia. He travels to a city, where he encounters strange events and a man named Lord Gordon who rules the town with an iron fist and plays cruel games with the town's inhabitants.

The game was released in two discs, each one representing a half portion of the main story: disc 1 is used for Misty Town and the other is for City of Moons; it asks for save data up to a certain point when the latter is inserted. While the town portion is very linear, in the second part you have to be careful with what you do, as some actions may cause any of the trapped villagers to die (not to mention you also have to explore important areas for some items as well), saving all of them during this portion rewards you with additional scenes before the credits start rolling. This also unlocks a secret button code which triggers five bonus FMVs if done correctly at the title screen. All of them are included, along with a few death scenes for the NPC characters you have to save.

Overall, it's pretty decent for a 1996 game, in a time when Myst clones started to appear, some of them well executed and others being regular to mediocre. Unfortunately it's short and can be completed in an afternoon if you know what to do.
