Player's Review

From wiki:
"Scud: The Disposable Assassin is a Sega Saturn video game based on the comic book series of the same name. It was released on February 28, 1997 in North America only, though it is region-free. It is unusual in that it can be played as a run and gun game, or with a light gun. The main characters and plotline are mostly the same from the comic series.

The storyline revolves around Scud, a Heart Breaker Series 1373 model assassin, a fictional type of robotic assassin, his partner, Drywall, a bizarre character whose body can hold an unlimited amount of storage space, Sussudio, a bounty hunter that at first tries to kill Scud, and several other characters from the series."

The game plays like an Arcade game in that it can be quite difficult due to the high speed of the game and the enemies just suddenly appearing on screen requiring some quick reactions. Graphically the game is really good with some nicely detailed sprite work all helped by the game moving along at a steady 60fps. While the game is short, it is not a whole lot of fun as you have to play quite defensively if you want to get through the game. if you try running and jumping, run and gunning you are likely to land in a pack of enemies and lose plenty of energy. The bosses are quite easy and just require shooting in the chest. I drag them out in the video to show their abilities. Only the vending machine puts up a fight as all the ninjas shooting at you distract you from the boss and they hurt when a few are on screen at once.

To complete the game, you are required to play through the levels twice. After completing the game with scud, a secondary character opens up and allows you to play as drywall. Drywall shoots slower, but hits harder but also with less energy. I had to use some credits at the vending machine bosses. Before starting the game I let the soundtrack play out. I close the video with the answering machine.
