Player's Review
"Join Bignose, (the hysterical prehistoric hero), in a mad cap chase speeding through prehistoric landscapes on his invention - the wheel. Race through fire worlds of hills and slopes. Perform death defying leaps clearing a path through an army of prehistoric monsters! Discover secret levels, special bonuses and more! But Beware... It's A Jungle Out There.
The game is well presented with a little intro and outro but the gameplay is quite basic but still challenging as you try to dodge the enemies placed in your way. In each level you just need to make it to the exit by navigating all the platforms and rails on your one wheeled plank. Ideally you collect bones for a point bonus at the end of each stage. Many of these are on invisible platforms, in hidden areas or in mushrooms. Mushrooms can also contain point bonuses, extra firepower, high jump, invincibility as well as level warps, thunder and control reverse. If you see me ignore a mushroom it's likely a control reverse. After completing four stages and defeating the boss stage you get to play a bonus round where you just need to jump the platforms to the end. Hidden areas can be found when hitting the invisible entrance and sometimes they will exit you to another area of a level. Some levels have a hidden end of level warp.
The longplay goes through all levels but it is not a rush to the end with a little exploration to find the bones but there is just too many to find them all and It drags the video out for no benefit. However, the levels get a lot simpler during area three , all of four and a bit of five making the goal of getting them all achievable so I try to do so, although not always achieving it. You get an extra life for every twenty five bones but other than that, its not adding anything trying to catch em all. After completion, the game loops back to level one taking away all your extra lives but you get to continue score building.
Overall not the most fun game but it depends what you want from it. If you just want to complete it, simply move to wards the lower left part of the screen taking out any enemies in your way. Or if you are into point scoring, there is plenty of room for exploration to find all the bones and hidden rooms. Their is no reward for finding them all apart from the feel good factor. It can be quite annoying to find them as they can be hidden in mushrooms as well as hidden in the background. The controls can feel floaty and you must jump before reaching the end of a platform else it wont acknowledge the input.
