"Linus needs your help! He has no money, no car and no respect from his fellow Linomen! The trouble is, no one believed his tale of discovering a far away planet called "Earth" so it's your job to help him get back there and take some handy snaps! Starting from his home town Old Lino Town, it's cosmic gameplay all the way in a unique blend of adventure and platform action PLUS a whole galaxy of surprises thrown in! Absorb your senses in this giant Extra Terrestrial Odyssey but keep an eye out for flying saucers in your front yard -you have been warned!"

Linus Spacehead's Cosmic Crusade is a point and click adventure style game first released on the Nintendo in the US. It was ported to other consoles later with its name changed to Cosmic Spacehead. Interestingly, the PAl release is also called Cosmic Spacehead on the NES sporting Codemasters new logo. A sequel was also released on the NES in 1993 as just 'Linus Spacehead' featured on the Quattro Adventure compilation.

Cosmic Crusade is split into three main parts. The first is a point and click adventure that has you navigating Planet Linoleum on a quest to get off planet and find Earth. On various screens there will be items needed to be picked up and used or given on another screen. of course there will be obstacles in the way which need to be solved along the way which block your path until a prior puzzle is complete. Between each screen is a platforming arcade stage. You just need to jump across all the platforms to the other side avoiding the enemies. There are tokens to collect if you want them which lead to extra lives after collecting a specific amount. Once these screens are completed you dont need to play them again as you backtrack between areas. In each area is a teleporter which requires a key to use. Some are peculiar and award an additional ability when you beam to that area.

The second stage is quite short with not much puzzling going on. You just need to push through each screen, free the workers and after another arcade platforming section, take a car ride to earth. It is possible to complete the factory without needing to shut it off with the computer key and puzzle to shut it down. It is also possible to jump over the scrap metal and avoid the scrapheap arcade game without need to put the fire out in the generator. I guess there is the hard way or the easy way but whichever you take, it doesnt stop you getting to the car.

The third an final area on the spacestation requires you to visit six areas and collect parts needed to reach the money box and spacebucks. You need to do in a specific order as each item is used in the next area. Getting to each room is yet more platform arcade sequencies. Once you can pay for your gas, it's back to the car on a course for earth. See you next game!

Overall, it's a nice little adventure game on the Nes. At any time you can pause and receive a passcode as a way of restoring progress between plays. The arcade sections can be annoying though with some pixel precision needed when jumping across large gaps and Linus can feel quite floaty as well.
