Player's Review
'The Fratelli gang has captured Annie the Mermaid and the six other Goonies and imprisoned them in their hideout. Mikey must search the Fratellis' expansive, labyrinth-like lair to find his friends and bring peace back to the town of Goon Docks.'
Sequel to the original video game adaptation of the 1985 film. Unlike its predecessor, it remained NES exclusive. Core gameplay is inherited from the prequel, including secondary weapons such as the slingshot which makes a comeback, with some tweaks to ammo refill to balance difficulty: you no longer have to use it conservatively as long as you keep farming for refills by killing enemies. Additionally, many dungeon crawling sections were added, allowing the player to travel from an area to another, some of them requiring special items to reveal either secret items, ammo upgrades or new paths.
In this longplay, I went through the game (main objective of rescuing all six Goonies and Annie) while picking up all items, including ammo upgrades for the bombs. There are some moments where I used the Transceiver in dungeon crawling sections to show off secret messages from either any of the Goonies, Annie, the Fratelli gang or Konami developers, as I wanted to do so once for each message.
