Player's Review
Blur is an arcade style racing game which has you racing with eleven opponents over two or three lap races. There are multiple track locations with forward and back variants as well as shortcuts or alternate routes to find. Face off against Boss cars to become the ultimate racer.
The game is split into two sections, Race and Challenge modes. The main aim of the game is to perform well, hit opponents, drive fast, drift corners, perform jumps and gain fans. The more fans you have the more cars and upgrades are unlocked. There are sixty races and many cars to choose from with different stats that can help or hinder you. There are also track difficulty specific. You can select three upgrade trees to have on your car and each tree can have a number of upgrades attached. This can boost weapon damage or improve health amongst others things. There are eighty challenge races but these need to be unlocked by playing through the races. Challenge races is another way to get more fans and unlock the upgrade options for the main races.
Each race features power ups which include weapons as well as defensive shields and repair options. Each power up collected is stored of which you can hold upto three and activated when you want them. You can shuffle them to use a specific one but you cant collect more until a slot is free.
The longplay firstly goes through the main race mode. Completing all races in a given difficulty before taking on the boss cars. I left Natalya boss car race until last as it would lockup the game during race loading ninety percent of the time. Fortunately I managed to press start on the exact right frame to allow it to work. Unfortunately, nothing happens for completing all races and in this case having all upgrades unlocked
Overall, even though the game is in a beta state, it is seemingly complete apart from some issues like weapons targeting walls instead of cars, the buggy boss race and the upgrade menu screen doesnt seem to display the upgrade icons properly. The game is fast and controls well although it can feel over sensitive at the faster speeds. The game can get so fast that you cant see the on coming corners in time to take properly. The adaptive difficulty can be a bit odd with some races being notably easy and other have you fighting for the win and if you get hit by anything, can cost you the entire race as you cant catch up. Some buggy events in challenge mode prevent one hundred percent completion. On the whole though it feels very unrewarding for your time with no ending (for this beta build at least) and perhaps it was right to not release it.
God Mode is also available in this Beta by pressing X on the race menu screen which unlocks everything. It is a toggle so can drop back to your actual progress.

Challenge Mode - 80 events. (In progress) There are eight challenge levels with ten events each. Challenge levels are unlocked by progressing in Race mode. One of the Checkpoint events is bugged and wont acknowledge the final flag has been crossed. Most of the Speed challenges are bugged with the flag right on the start line although I mage to kludge my way through apart from two events I just could not get through so events in all not completed. This is eighty five percent completion according to he stats page :/ There are a few events I can do in the multiplayer game where you would normally upload your results. Some refuse to load and crash the game so I cant complete this mode. The other modes all require additional players. Roll the credits again.
