Player's Review
Released in 2009 for the Nintendo DS, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days centers around Roxas and takes place between Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II, overlapping with Chain of Memories. One day, he awakens and is brought onboard Organization XIII. A group of nobodies who long for the power of Kingdom Hearts. They desire to use that power to make themselves whole again as nobodies lack hearts. Things get interesting when shortly after Roxas joins, a 14th member is brought on. Xion. As the days go by, Roxas continues on his missions and meeting up with his friend, Axel and eventually Xion, after work to just unwind and hang out like friends do. But this unfortunately doesn't last long as after Sora is sent to sleep, this starts taking a toll on Roxas and Xion. This causes them to both look for answers with Xion finding out, but Roxas left in the dark. A whole lot of drama unfolds and Roxas decides to leave Organization XIII, but that's where Kingdom Hearts II starts, so it doesn't end well for Sora's nobody.
This is arguably my favorite Kingdom Hearts game. It's a game where each day comes with missions to complete. You complete a mission, some with a variable completion gauge, and that's a day. The more missions you complete, the further the days go, the more story unfolds. It's straight and to the point, if a little repetitive. For this playthrough, I play the game on proud mode, complete every mission in the main game, and show the story unfold. I collect as many treasure chests as I can, and fully complete the mission gauge as fully as possible. Some missions, especially early on, make it impossible to fully complete because of Roxas' initially limited moveset, encouraging returning for full completion. Not this time. Most of the time, it's just for additional synthesis materials or items or to unlock additional characters in Mission Mode. Also not shown because the additional characters are practically cosmetic changes. The missions are the same ones from the story, and the character's play style has basically no change.
I will upload another video that showcases Roxas' Diary and the challenge missions to unlock the secret reports at a later time. They don't really include anything aside from character insight. And the challenge missions are just the same missions in story mode with a stipulation and a grading system. More replay value for sure, but still more of the same, hence the decision to upload later as a bonus video rather than included in the main video.
