Trauma Center: New Blood

This game is one of the sequels to Under the Knife (and Second Opinion) in the Trauma Center series. However, chronologically wise it's actually set much after the NDS-exclusive sequel, since the events in this one happen 10 years after the events in the first game while the other game explicitly mentions three years after UtK1. Which means this one actually follows up the Wii 'remade' version more than the DS original.

In this game, you take the role of surgeons Markus Vaughn and Valerie Blaylock along with nurse Elena Salazar, in a mission to save lives and the world from the Stigma outbreak, pretty much like GUILT in the previous game. During missions you get to choose between the two in single player mode (choice just changes the only bits of text right before starting the operation and the Healing Touch to use, this same approach was lifted from the X Missions in Second Opinion by the way) or both taking action at the same time in multiplayer mode. The tools to use, as well as the gameplay itself, are exactly the same as in the other games in the series, specifically Second Opinion in this case because of Wiimote-adapted motion controls.

I should also mention that unlike in other games in the series, the majority of the missions here seem to be tougher than normal, ranging from hard to even frustrating depending on the circumstance. I realized about this when I tried playing on Hard difficulty and the reaction time during operations was significantly tighter than usual, so I decided to record the entire thing on Normal. Even with this choice, some of the missions can be really tough, probably this was made to encourage the multiplayer feature according to some people who have also played it.

In the longplay I play each mission while alternating the surgeon selection, considering the previously mentioned note that the alterations are pretty much minimal, everything else remains the same independently of the choice. Another reason of this approach is because you don't get this option in the other games, where each mission can only be played with one character, which is something Atlus decided to resort back for Trauma Team.
