'Tall tales come to life in Rango The Video Game, the exciting game based on the new film, Rango. Become the daring lizard and continue the adventure from the movie by shooting, riding, and flying your way through his many adventures.
As Rango, "the coolest sheriff this side of Dirt", you will have your hands full as you explore the town and keep its citizens safe from evil villains like Bad Bill and Rattlesnake Jake. But things will take an even wilder turn when outer space aliens visit Rango's home turf! There sure are some mighty strange things going on in town, and it's gonna take a real hero to sort out the mess.'
Based on the 2011 film though it is set AFTER the events of it. The mystery about the disappearance of Beans' father starts to be spread across the entire town of Dirt, and so Rango has to find out what happened and who 'captured' Beans' dad while retrieving some radioactive stones along the way.
This seems to be a watered down port of the PS3/X360 version. While most of the stages are present, there is no way to upgrade your weapon or buy any other stuff with your coins. Instead, their only purpose is to achieve a high score by performing good kill combos during the shootout sections, which are pretty much the strongest part of the gameplay. Limited-ammo weapons such as the minigun, rocket launcher and the shotgun were all inherited from the higher-end version though.
Upon completion there are no special unlocks of any kind, just the chance to replay any of the stages to beat your previous score. Yeah, another short game, but at least it can provide a good challenge considering the secondary weapon drops are random.
