Player's Review

"The greatest driver ever in the ultimate fun driving game - The Michael Schumacher legacy began by winning numerous karting championships. He once again steps back onto the karting tracks where he became famous; ready to face you, one of his next challengers. Feel the adrenalin rush as you race numerous competitors. including Schumacher, around 16 superbly detailed and demanding tracks from across the globe. Test your ability by hurtling along at incredible speeds in three challenging kart classes."

Karting game released quite late into the original PlayStations run. The game feels like a budget title but I am not so sure it was a budget price. The game is quite short with just three championships although they can be quite challenging. The controls only add to the challenge which can feel very twitchy with light presses can send you skidding off the track. Speed has to be properly controlled as well as going to fast at a corner will also spin you off. The opposing racers have no worries about colliding with you either and will happily knock you around if you are in the way.

Overall, I cant say it's a particularly good game and there are much better kart racers on the ps1. It looks like a game that wouldn't look out of place in 1995 and in 2002 only really comparable with racers by Phoenix games. The opening presentation is alright but that's all you get until the end which is nothing special lasting only a couple of seconds. The credits had to be manually rolled at the end. The Michael Schumacher licence probably cost more than the actual games development.
