Whizz is a 1994 isometric platform game released for the Amiga, Amiga CD32, and DOS. In 1996, it was ported to the SNES, and in 1997, to the PlayStation and Sega Saturn.

I had this game on the Amiga as it came with the A1200 Magic pack. Even back then I had no love for this game due to its controls which made the game overly difficult. The addition of a timer meant that you cant even take your time to explore the levels as the most efficient path is not always obvious. Alternate routes often intersect but take longer to get round costing time. other routes need specific material keys to bust down walls but will allow you to get through quicker. There are also rocket collectables to find and if you find 4 of them in each level you get a continue or score bonus at the end of the level.

The game has always had good artwork and fitting music and the playstation release in 1997 adds some fmv sequences, a new soundtrack as well as touched up artwork adding some more detail. I play on Hard hoping for a different ending but that was a mistake. The timer can be really tight now meaning I cant get all the rockets and beat the clock. Some levels are very tight with the time bonus drops. I wont say its impossible to get all the bonus as it may just need good knowledge of the map and many retries. On normal its not as big of an issue. At the end of the day, its just score and the game doesn't even allow you to put a name to the score at the end.

There are only ten levels in the game and sometimes a few of the levels seem unfinished. You just collect some time bonuses and a wall material, and just round the corner is the end. all rockets done and no reason to back. Most notable on the final level hmm..
