We are still waiting on a suitable Amiga AGA emulator with robust recording features before tackling such games.

Test Drive Off-Road 3 (Known as 4X4 World Trophy in Europe, without any mention of the Test Drive name) is a 1999 video game. It was published by Infogrames and released for the PlayStation, Microsoft Windows and Game Boy Color.
Finally, 3rd time lucky I think they have pulled off a decent Off Roading game. It's quite different from the first games released 2 years prior but does use lap races as the first game did and point to point races from the second game. The gfx engine is still low resolution but much improved over the previous games in the series although it may have taken a frame rate hit while making everything pretty.
The tracks all have winding and bumpy terrain with differing road surfaces throughout the race. changed in how steep the terrain becomes is what finally makes this an off roading game ass you pump the accelerator to get a boost over those stubborn rocks. Between each championship cup, you can buy modifications for your vehicle to give you the edge over particular terrain. Money is tight so you might not see me using the most optimal mods or tyres for particular races. I do sell up and buy a new vehicle between race divisions.
Thankfully the game is quite short so it does not outstay its welcome, although the ai drivers can still feel a little unfair at times and I have to block them where I can (Maybe due to playing on hard). The way the track are played through each championship means the tracks do not feel old as I don't think the same track will appear more than once. The game will either give a mirror variant or a night variant until you have unlocked them all by the end of the world tour. I actually enjoyed playing through this final test drive off road game.
