Player's Review

"Go to synaesthesia - Enter a pulsating world of intense sights and sounds, where every beat and sample is synced directly to your actions. Through the use of light, sound, and rhythm, you alone must take control of the network and its music in an attempt to unlock the system's secrets and bring "Eden" back online. Revolutionary gameplay allows players to create their own rhythms while destroying enemies. The Shooting Genre Re-invented. Advanced technology blends intense visuals, addictive action. and awesome music into one seamless gaming experience."

One of my most favoured games. So good, I've triple dipped for this on PS2, PS4 and PS5/PSVR2. Going back to the PS game, I've found it more challenging, maybe due to the smaller screen space and the boss battles seem to play out differently. Maybe some difficulty balancing has happened for the PS4/PS5 re-releases. PSVR2 version is a great way to play and being able to point at your target instead of dragging the reticule along makes for a less stressful and fun time. It's such a game changer they had to have separate controller and vr score boards.

I was first attracted to the game from a PS2 demo. Something about the progressive music build-up along with rhythm generated from the shooting grabbed me and the fairly simply gameplay helped to bring it all together. A must own game. Child of Eden released later on PS3 didn't really do the same for me. Annoying control and the game felt overly aggressive especially at the boss stages not giving you much time to think and some crazy difficult trophies didn't help persuade me either.

For the longplay, I play through each of the five areas aiming for 100% kill and item collection leading to the full ending. That is the core of the game completed but there are more modes to play. Once the credits have rolled I play the unlocked Lost Area before going into the Boss Rush. I close the video with the oddball Trance Mission level which is endless and you can die so once it loops I fade to black. What is not shown is that there is plenty more to unlock like invincibility and extra beam modes but this requires playing the score attacks and Assault modes which is like completing the game many times over with slight variations.

Overall a great game that is now on current platforms and playing through Area 1 and 4 are my personal favourite parts of the game.
