Player's Review

"It's a very special day for Babe! The little sheep-pig has been invited to take part in a tournament, where the best sheep-herders from around the world will compete for ultimate glory. But there's a problem: the tournament is many miles away in."

- Fun for everyone! Easy to learn and simple to control, Babe is perfect for players of any age!
- 50(*) challenging levels! Help Babe herd the sheep to the goal - but make sure they don't get trapped!
- Fantastic journey! See Babe visit all kinds of strange places, including a hotel, a hospital, and even an airport!

A puzzle game about the pig Babe from the movies. You have to guide the sheep Gypsy around the obstacles in the levels to reach your destination.

I rather liked this one, all things considered. The levels are actually 18, and not 50 like the back cover of the game would like to have you believe. The level design is actually okay though: all the elements are revealed early on, and the multiple different areas contain just retexturings of the same dangers, but the puzzles entertained me while I played them. The graphical style is very dated, but the isometric view and grid system is a good choice for this kind of puzzle.

Some of the levels can be solved in more ways than just the intended route, and some are a bit broken (in some chapters like 13 the end is triggered by Babe stepping on the stars and not Gypsy, which makes guiding her to the destination completely useless). Also there's an incredible everything-skip in chapter 12 that lets you finish the whole level in a fraction of the time by connecting the very start to the very end (probably not intended).

The checkpoint flags trigger from a mile away, I probably would have made it so you needed to press a button to activate them. Oh well...

By just watching you might think the game runs kinda slow, but playing it first-hand it's a different story: the whole idea of the game revolves around planning and routing, so you don't really need to move that fast. Also the slow speed gives you time to think about the ways in which your movement could get Gypsy stuck (which are not few).

In the playthrough I (mostly) use the intended route for every level, with only minor reroutes in some hard spots. I try to be conservative in the number of Babe grunts, but I don't optimize for time and I show the routing as I create it to let the viewer understand my idea.

The game is completed with no deaths, so at the end I included a compilation of all (I think) the possible death screens.
