Player's Review

Metroidvania by Konami.

Follow a d00d with a nice coat as he somehow stumbles into Batman's castle...because of course Batman is going to be involved!

Gameplay is the same ol': get lost, go to a dead-end, find a cool soul, look at map, and go to a spot you haven't visited...only to find out the progression soul you have isn't the one that lets you advance! To make the game more fun, we have the Tactical Soul: beat up a monster and you may get its soul. It can be some kind of buff or some kind of attack. it is subjected to dumb drop rates because of course it is! My fav thing about this game (and why it's my fav GBA one), is that you get weapons and not just a dumb whip!

This longplay goes sweaty on Hard Mode! I get 100% map rate, one of every item (consumable, weapon, armor, accessory), and all souls. The big sweaty grind starts starts after getting Black Panther soul (it's pretty much near the end of the game), including a money grind because Soul Eater Ring says so! Though, in hindsight, I should've just sweat for the Tsuchinoko soul to tremendously reduce the price. I know some rooms can be manipulated by attacking and killing on certain values (have to know the address that checks for soul drop. Bad explanation.), but I decided to not use that and take a jab at spamming a mob for a soul and/or drop. No routing involved for the big grind. I just go around willy-nilly and load a savestate or ten to not have an hour worth of hitting a mob because drop rates are dumb!. lol Speaking of drop rates: Luck hardly works. It's a placebo that barely increases drop rates. We talking something like .0000000000002% increase (exaggeration). I equip Luck soul sometimes for the copium. There is also a Julius Mode that tries to cover as much of the map as possible and defeating all bosses. For fun, I include Boss Rush with Soma and Julius. Boss Rush has to be played anyway since there are 3 items that demands it.
